Councillor calls public meeting to discuss dirty water

16/05/2008 9:41:00 AM
Cowra Shire councillor Christine Norton is calling on local residents to keep the pressure on in regards to dirty water.

To give residents the opportunity to have their say on the town’s ongoing water problems Cr Norton has called a public meeting to be held on Tuesday, June 4.

Cr Norton said the meeting would give residents the chance to have their say.

The meeting will be held at the Cowra Bowling Club from 7pm.

“I hope we can try and get something moving from the meeting,” Cr Norton said.

“We need to the keep the pressure on.

“I know the council staff are doing an audit of the water system but when are we going to get it,” Cr Norton said.

Cr Norton said Councillors Jack Mallon and Tim Bush have already indicated they will attend the meeting to hear residents views on the water situation.

Cr Norton recently asked residents to write to her about the town’s water problems but only received 10 responses.

These responses have been presented to Council and responded to by Cr Norton and also Cowra Shire general manager James Roncon.

In his response to the letters Mr Roncon told the residents that their letters had been referred to Cr Norton for action.

“If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact Cr Norton,” Mr Roncon’s reply stated.
